Dr. Stirling Bryan is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, and also Director of the Centre for Clinical Epidemiology & Evaluation. Prior to completing his PhD in Economics at Brunel University, Bryan received his Master’s in Health Economics from the University of York, both located in the United Kingdom. Most of his time has been spent in the UK, instructing at the University of Birmingham, as well as St. Thomas’ Hospital Medical School and Brunel University. In 2005, following a strong association with the UK National Institute for Health & Clinical Excellence (NICE), Bryan was the recipient of a Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellowship, leading to him spending one year in the U.S. at Stanford University. Following his brief stint in the U.S., he moved on to Canada, where he has been located since 2008. Bryan’s research interests cover the areas of economic evaluation and health technology assessment from applied and methodological perspectives, including preference elicitation and outcome measurement, and the use of economic analyses in decision-making.
