Alan Forster is a general internist and Chief Quality and Performance Officer at the Ottawa Hospital, a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and a Senior Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Program at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Forster is also leading in the development of a hospital data warehouse, which will serve as a supporting infrastructure for a research program in patient safety and quality of care. He completed his medical degree and an MSc (epidemiology) at the University of Ottawa, and a research fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. His research focuses on patient safety and quality improvement, including evaluating the incidence of adverse events following discharge from hospital and the development of strategies to improve care during the transition home from hospital.
