Andrea Gruneir, BSc(Hons.), MSc, PhD

Andrea Gruneir is an epidemiologist and health services researcher in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta. Dr. Gruneir specializes in using administrative and other secondary data sources to study the health services use patterns of older adults. Dr. Gruneir has led several studies looking at health care transitions among vulnerable sub-groups of older adults, including those residing in long-term care and those being discharged from extended hospital stays. As well, she is involved in research to better characterize issues of multimorbidity in older adults and the impact on health service use and outcomes. Dr. Gruneir has also worked extensively to study medication-related issues, including adverse events and relevant methodological issues. Dr. Gruneir currently holds a New Investigator Award from CIHR.
