Mr. Vail has built a wide variety of skills working as a health and social policy planner, analyst and researcher at the local, provincial and national levels for over 25 years. He is currently Director of Policy for the Canadian Medical Association where he has been responsible for a number of areas including health care transformation and seniors care. Previous to this employment, Stephen worked for the Conference Board of Canada, the Nation’s foremost leader in economic research. He completed research studies for the federal government, as well as for the Governments of NWT and Nunavut. His areas of expertise included health, benchmarking, northern development and understanding Canadian values. While working at Health Canada, Stephen provided research and policy support for the Federal Minister of Health’s Advisory Council on Health Info-structure. This project involved developing a strategy to make better use of information and communications technologies in the health care sector. Stephen began his career as a community health planner for the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Health Council.
