CFN Chair honoured by Life Sciences Ontario

CFN Board Chair Russell Williams accepted the Life Sciences Leadership Award from Life Sciences Ontario at their annual gala on March 1st in Toronto.

This award is a special recognition given by the LSO Board of Directors to honour individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership through their contributions to the life sciences sector.  Recipients can be from any life sciences sector and any professional background. Awardees are chosen on the merits of their leadership as it pertains to their contributions to the life sciences sector.

Russell is Diabetes Canada Vice President, Government Relations and Public Policy, and was the former President of Innovative Medicines Canada (formerly Rx&D). During his time there, he participated in a number of key coalitions focused on improving research, healthcare, and ethics networks. Prior to his time at IMC, he served as the Member of the National Assembly for the riding of Nelligan in Montreal. In addition to his work with CFN, he is also well known for his advocacy for other causes such as better patient care, increased research and development, palliative care, individual rights, reform for handicapped services, and of course, frail older adults.
