Strengthening CFN ties in BC

Dr. John Muscedere visited British Columbia in October for a series of meetings.

Among these were meetings at the Health and Technology District in Surrey. Our network is developing plans with this innovation hub to facilitate more national/cross jurisdictional scale and spread.

Dr. Muscedere also visited Fraser Health, for discussions on scaling the Community Actions and Resources Empowering Seniors (CARES) and a collaboration with CFN partner, Canadian Primary Care Sentinel Surveillance Network (CPCSSN) to test the use of the CARES frailty index within the 1,200 sentinel primary care CPCSSN practices across Canada. The CARES initiative is a very promising intervention which utilizes a comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) to inform an electronic frailty index (EFI) for the assessment of older adults. In 2018, CFN will be collaborating with the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI) to mobilize the spread of CARES in Canada.
