Newfoundland and Labrador government appoints Seniors’ Advocate

December 7, 2017

Suzanne Brake was recently named to the post.  She has a PhD in social work and taught at Memorial University, and has worked in director roles with the provincial seniors and aging division, and in adult protection. The advocate has been given the mandate of identifying systemic issues and solutions, and promoting general awareness. She will not be handling individual grievances. Newfoundland is the third province to appoint a Seniors’ Advocate, joining Alberta (2016) and BC (2014).
