Debra Sheets, PhD, MSN, RN, FAAN is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. She received her PhD in Gerontology and Public Policy from the University of Southern California. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and has more than 20 years of clinical nursing experience. Dr. Sheets’ areas of expertise include aging policy, program evaluation, family caregiving, and nursing education. Her research focuses on identifying models and strategies to increase access by older adults to community-based services and benefits.

Stuart MacDonald, PhD is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Victoria. He received his PhD in Psychology from the University of Victoria. His research focuses on cognitive aging and early identification of those at risk for cognitive decline and disease, such as Alzheimer’s. He examines patterns and predictors of cognitive decline in the elderly, paying particular attention to variability, or inconsistency, in responses over time.

Cheryl Beach, PhD, MSc, BSc is Director, Assisted Living and Residential Care Abbotsford/Mission in Fraser Health, BC. She received her PhD in Education from the University of Surrey. She has worked internationally in both academic and clinical settings and has over 20 years of clinical and health care management experience. Dr. Beach’s areas of expertise include community care, program evaluation, quality improvement and research into practice. Her research focuses on use of technologies to support caregivers and aging in place.
