Dr. Cheryl Forchuk is a Scientist and Assistant Director at Lawson Health Research Institute. She is also a Professor and Associate Director of Nursing Research at the Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Western Ontario. In 1976, while at the University of Windsor, Forchuk received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then obtained her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Toronto in 1980, followed by her PhD in Nursing in 1992 from Wayne State University. Her research interests include health promotion and issues related to community integration for people diagnosed with mental illness, which includes therapeutic relationships, social support and housing/homelessness.
