Max Al Aqel is an International Medical Doctor, with a Bachelor of Medicine and General Surgery from the University of Science and Technology, Yemen. He has passed the required examinations of the Medical Council of Canada, and is aiming to begin residency training in 2020.

Supervised by Dr. Olga Theou, through the CFN Fellowship Program, Max is furthering his interest in patient assessment and diagnosis, by working on a frailty index consisting entirely of laboratory and clinical tests. The index will recognize the physiological complexity of multiple chronic conditions among Emergency Department patients.

Max is also the Coordinator of the International Medical Graduate Bridging Program at ISANS, and he is an active volunteer in the community through his roles with NSHA, Diabetes Canada and the Halifax Sexual Health Clinic.
