CFN Celebrates its New Administrative Centre

June 26, 2013

June 26, 2013 — CFN celebrated two landmarks today — its Administrative Centre relocation to historic Kidd House, and its first anniversary (July 1).

CFN First AnniversaryLeslee Thompson, Kingston General Hospital CEO, Dr. Steven Liss, Queen’s University Vice-Principal Research, and CFN Board Chair the Honourable Sharon Carstairs, P.C. marked the occasion with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, and guests enjoyed a strawberry social over the lunch hour.

The event recognized the stellar support received from Queen’s University and KGH, as well as the many individual contributions made by KGH, Queen’s and CFN staff in establishing the Network.  Board Chair Carstairs cited in particular the vision, passion and commitment of Dr. Daren Heyland, the founding Scientific Director, and all those involved in the original proposal for NCE funding.

In its first year CFN funded seven research projects and ten summer students. It has just released a Call for Knowledge Synthesis Proposals, and in the next month will be releasing two more calls for the Interdisciplinary Fellowship Program and for Catalyst Grants.
