Dr. Hirsch is a Professor of Surgery and Director of Research in the Department of Surgery at Dalhousie University. He is also a staff surgeon at Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. Dr. Hirsch obtained his MD from Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency training in General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery from Massachusetts General Hospital, and a Research Fellowship in pathology from Harvard Medical School. Dr. Hirsch’s clinical research interests include outcomes assessment research for frail patients undergoing surgery and mechanisms that lead to donor organ rejections.
