Dr. Xiaowei Song is a Senior Clinical Scientist with the Fraser Health Authority, the MRI Program Lead at the SFU ImageTech Lab in Surrey Memorial Hospital, and an Adjunct Professor in the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. Previously, she spent more than 17 years in Halifax, conducting research at Dalhousie University Geriatric Medicine Research Centre at the neuroimaging research lab of the National Research Council’s Canada Institute for Biodiagnostics – Atlantic, before relocating to BC in 2014. Dr. Song has long standing interest in aging and frailty research. Her research has been focused on understanding brain aging in relation to general health status and the effect of frailty risk and protective factors. This research targets improving patient care through health science and technology innovations, by combining neuroscience, neuroimaging, computer science, and geriatric medicine methods and using high-performance structural and functional MRI and computational health informatics and data mining technologies.
