Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Program
Partnering with the Government of Canada through the Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) Program
Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) networks are large-scale, academic-led virtual research centres that bring together multidisciplinary partners from academia, industry, government and not-for-profit organizations. Networks perform research and development, and range in focus from knowledge mobilization to commercialization activities. Networks enable Canadian researchers and students to work with end-user communities more directly, to increase the relevance of research results and accelerate the creation and application of knowledge for benefit to Canadians. CFN has been a Network of Centres of Excellence since 2012.
This made-in-Canada model has been acknowledged around the world as a highly effective way to strengthen a country’s research capacity, build partnerships, and translate discoveries and advances into economic prosperity and a better quality of life. The NCE programs are narrowing the gap between applied research and adoption of knowledge — ultimately increasing its impact on Canadians.
