Dr. Jennifer Medves is the Vice-Dean (Health Sciences) and Director of the School of Nursing at Queen’s University. Her research program, entitled to Nursing in Healthy Rural Workplaces has five areas: a) Safeguarding patients, families, and communities, b) Nursing beneficence, c) Interprofessional collaboration, d) Best evidence for practice, and e) Recruitment and retention of registered nurses. The focus of the program has evolved into protecting the public from harm through the evolution of healthcare quality metrics. Dr Medves is the chair of Council of Ontario University Programs of Nursing. Her teaching areas are maternal child health, philosophy of nursing science, and research methods. Dr Medves works closely with colleagues across health sciences on integrating interprofessional education and practice, and has been funded on a number of initiatives at the federal and provincial level.
