2015 Implementation Grant — Province-Wide Implementation of the Clinical Frailty Scale in an Electronic Medical Record System (eCritical) in Alberta (FRA 2015-B-20)
Dr. Rolfson is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Alberta, where he completed medical school and residency training in both Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Rolfson’s primary research interest is in the measurement of frailty, and its application in clinical settings. He took the lead role in the development and validation of the Edmonton Frail Scale, and has contributed to research that employs frailty measurement in primary care and a number of inpatient settings and various populations. He currently chairs a provincial working group which is providing recommendations on the measurement of frailty in acute care. Dr. Rolfson also has had a career long interest in medical education, with numerous awards for teaching excellence, and between 2003 and 2017, he provided leadership as residency program director in both Geriatric Medicine and Internal Medicine.
