Citizen Mentors: HQP Voices

Celia Laur invited her mentor to a stakeholder meeting for the CFN-funded project “More-2-Eat,” in which she was involved as an HQP. To ensure that her mentor felt comfortable at this meeting, Celia “made sure we were sitting at the same table (planning ahead) so that she could ask questions to me, if desired, rather than the whole group. She could also trust that I would provide brief explanations if she did not understand what was being discussed (acronyms etc.).” This is a learning opportunity that other forms of mentorships and placements typically do not afford trainees.
