Sarah Gibbens is a Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) Clinical Nurse Specialist at Northumberland Hills Hospital, in Cobourg Ontario. She received her Master’s of Nursing from the University of Toronto and is pursuing her PhD in the Queen’s University Aging and Health program. In the Emergency Department, Sarah works directly with older adults who are frail, and their caregivers. Her research explores the impact of perspectives and attitudes of healthcare professionals on clinical practice with older adults living with frailty. She is highly engaged in her organization as a geriatric specialist, and in her community as a collaborative partner with specialized geriatric services across the Central-East Local Health Integration Network (CE LHIN). Sarah is an advocate for older adults on a number of volunteer community committees, and is currently the regional clinical spokesperson for CE LHIN GEM nurses for Seniors Care Network.
