Aging Well Together: Centre for Healthy Aging KFL&A Launch
The Canadian Frailty Network and our local partners welcomed the KFL&A community to the free Aging Well Together: Centre for Healthy Aging KFL&A Launch on November 24, 2022. The event was held at Kingston City Hall, thanks to the generous support of the City of Kingston. Attendees learned about the many healthy aging supports that KFL&A has to offer, and about CFN’s Centre for Healthy Aging and its associated program, AVOID Frailty Program for Healthy Aging. The Centre for Healthy Aging is a partnership between CFN and local organizations that connects older adults living in KFL&A with healthy aging resources, programs, and organizations in the local community.
The event had interactive booths hosted by KFL&A community organizations; short presentations by Member of Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, Mark Gerretsen (in-person), and Member of Provincial Parliament for Kingston and the Islands, Ted Hsu (virtual); and chances to win giveaways and prizes donated by local partners by completing a booth scavenger hunt and signing up for the AVOID Frailty Program for Healthy Aging. Local organizations present at the event included the Kingston region Seniors Association; KFL&A Public Health; Compassionate Communities Kingston; PilotHouse Senior Living Advisor; Kingston, Leeds, Lanark, and Grenville VON; and Providence Care Centre for Studies in Aging and Health.
